Law Enforcement Center Release Paths
The Yoakum County Law Enforcement Center is the county jail operated by the Sheriff's Office. Someone booked there may leave for several reasons. Bond or a personal bond can return a defendant to the community while the criminal case stays open. A dismissal, acquittal, time-served ruling, completed county sentence, or other court order can also close the booking. Court-ordered probation begins community supervision, which is not the same as parole.
Other exits continue custody. A felony commitment may send the person to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. A movement entry may name another county, the United States Marshals Service, the federal prison system, or immigration authorities. “No longer at the Law Enforcement Center” does not identify which path occurred. The release code, destination, authorizing order, and receiving-agency record must be compared.
| Recorded path | Where to verify next |
|---|---|
| Bond or court release | Sheriff release entry and correct court clerk |
| County sentence complete | Jail entry, judgment, and jail-time credit |
| TDCJ commitment | Movement entry and TDCJ current record |
| Federal or ICE transfer | Movement destination and receiving federal system |
Confirm Law Enforcement Center Releases
The sheriff's official page does not provide a live county roster, archived booking search, or rolling recent-release list. It directs visitors to VINELink for offender custody status. VINE is useful for a person-specific event, but it remains a notification and status service fed by participating agencies. It is not the certified Yoakum County release ledger.
- Select Texas in VINELink and search the name used at booking.
- Compare identity details, reporting agency, location, event wording, and update time.
- Call 806-456-2377, the facility's 24-hour line, to ask whether the booking ended through release or transfer.
- Request the booking-out and movement records when the exact date, authority, or destination matters.
- Match the event to the court order or receiving-custodian record.
A missing result cannot complete this sequence. It may reflect release, transfer, a spelling issue, changed participation, delayed data, or restricted access. The full Yoakum County released inmate search shows how to change systems after the county answers.
Law Enforcement Center Records Contact
The official sheriff page identifies the correct county detention operation and its contact details. It lists Sheriff Robert Whitfield and Chief Deputy Aaron Natividad as the current officials at research time. Confirm names before directing a time-sensitive letter because elected and appointed personnel can change.

No dedicated sheriff records form or local booking-record fee was published. Ask which email, online, mail, or hand-delivery method is currently accepted and request a cost estimate. County Clerk fees must not be borrowed for a sheriff release request. The two offices hold different records and can charge under different circumstances.
Request Center Release Entries
A focused Texas Public Information Act request should describe existing records. Supply the booked name, useful identity details, approximate booking and exit dates, and the booking number when known. Ask for the booking sheet, release sheet or release-event entry, custody-movement or transfer entries, and the booking photograph as a distinct item. State that electronic copies are preferred if that format meets the need.
The useful fields include booking number, admission date and time, arresting agency, charges, court or cause number, bond amount and type, release date and time, release code or authority, and destination. The agency may redact protected information, clarify a broad description, calculate charges, or seek an Attorney General ruling. The Texas Public Information Act does not require staff to create a new explanation of why a name disappeared.
Ask for the release or transfer field itself. An arrest report may explain the arrest while omitting the later booking-out event.
Retained Yoakum County Release Proof
A vanished web result does not mean the underlying county record vanished. Texas Local Schedule PS item PS4200-06a makes the jail register permanent. Its defined contents include the release or transfer date. Item PS4200-10 sets a minimum of release or transfer plus two years for commitment, transport, transfer, release documents, booking-in and booking-out forms, and release or transfer orders. An office may retain them longer, and pending litigation, audit, or a public request can affect destruction.
Request the detailed booking-and-release packet first. If it is no longer held, ask alternatively for the permanent jail-register entry. The register can preserve the fact and date of an exit even when a more detailed form has passed its minimum term. It may not supply every authority, time, or destination field, so a court judgment or receiving-agency record may still be needed.
Property After Center Release
The research found no official statement about a routine property counter, pickup point, or after-release claim process. Those details should be verified by calling the Law Enforcement Center. A documented retention rule still provides a useful record path. Local Schedule PS4200-12 retains inmate property inventories and receipts for at least release or transfer plus two years.
Ask for the inventory and release receipt tied to the exact booking if property return is disputed. An intake list shows what the jail recorded. A receipt or signature may document the recorded return. Neither record should be overstated as conclusive proof about condition, ownership, or actual receipt without supporting details. Ask the sheriff what correction or claim process applies and preserve each response.
Match Center Releases to Court Records
The jail release entry proves the physical booking event, while the court record explains its authority. Yoakum County uses separate County Clerk and District Clerk paths. Follow the court and cause number on the charge, bond, or release material instead of treating one portal as a complete criminal index. The courthouse switchboard is 806-456-7491. The official contact directory assigns extension 294 to the County Clerk and 297 to the District Clerk.
Look for a filed bond, dismissal, judgment, sentence, jail-time credit, commitment, probation order, or later discharge. A personal bond can release a defendant while the charge remains pending. A commitment can move the person to TDCJ without community release. A docket prepared before a setting may still say “in jail” even after later processing. Use the signed order for legal authority and the Law Enforcement Center entry for the completed exit time.
If a court result is missing online, verify spelling, alias, case level, and cause number. Texas trial-court jurisdiction varies by case. Lawful expunction or nondisclosure may also limit public access. Do not rebuild a restricted official record from a commercial copy.
Center Booking Photo Requests
The Sheriff's Office does not publish an official booking-photo roster or recent-release gallery. Request “the booking photograph associated with” the identified booking as a separate Public Information Act item. A photo that appears in a live VINE or official app record should be labeled with its supplying agency and update context. The sheriff's app flyer proves only that an official app channel is promoted, not that it offers photographs or release data.
A TDCJ image, if lawfully obtained, documents state corrections custody and may not be the Yoakum County booking photograph. A news image or registry photograph has a different source again. None proves that release occurred. Confirm the event through the booking-out record, and respect any expunction, nondisclosure, juvenile, investigation, privacy, or security limit applied by the lawful custodian.
Federal Transfers From Yoakum County
A sheriff entry marked ICE, USMS, federal, or transfer closes county custody but not necessarily confinement. Begin with the recorded movement destination. For current immigration detention, use the ICE Online Detainee Locator and, when needed, the ERO contact directory. ODLS is not a historical release archive, and no result does not prove that immigration custody ended.
For a sentenced federal commitment, the BOP Inmate Locator can show federal records from 1982 onward, including released results. USMS may handle pretrial detention and transport before BOP custody begins. Use the federal docket and USMS FOIA route for that phase. A BOP “Not in custody” result does not rule out another sovereign's custody or federal supervised release.
About the Law Enforcement Center
The facility is a county jail and law-enforcement center in Plains, not a TDCJ prison, federal prison, or ICE detention center. The Sheriff's Office describes functions that include detention, communications, civil process, and court security. It is the authoritative starting point for a person arrested by the sheriff, Denver City Police Department, or another local agency and booked into the county detention operation.
The official page also says visits must be scheduled in advance by calling the Law Enforcement Center and lists Tuesday and Saturday visit periods. Those are current-custody logistics. They reveal nothing about release timing. No official routine release hour, weekend rule, waiting area, transportation service, exit door, or pickup point was found, so each practical detail must be confirmed by telephone.
The state retention resource documents the record framework that supports later verification.
The retained jail register and booking-out documents are the durable fallback when no public county release archive exists.
